Maya's strengths are in its animation tools and its scripting language. I don't want to give the impression that it's terrible, because it's really not, but it has a very weird workflow for doing poly work (n-gons all day every day, no floating vertices), and its UI makes getting at frequently-used poly tools more work than it should (Extrude doesn't even have a hotkey by default). The strength of its animation and scripting tools more than make up for it, but if you just want a mesh editor for building game assets it's the weakest of the three.
